As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

The ICT department supports the renowned researchers of the Helmholtz Zentrum München in a vibrant international environment with all aspects of a modern, forward-looking IT and office infrastructure. In collaboration with highly dynamic and innovative research teams, we realize applications in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning. Head of Application and Digitalisation (m/f/d) 2019/0332

You care about customer focus and are an IT enthusiast with leadership experience who wants to engage in a dynamic scientific environment. Your task is to head an IT service unit, which leads the center in all aspects of digitalisation. You lead and guide the center to establish tailor-made digital applications for innovation-driven science.

Your responsibilities

  • Ideas for digitalisation and process automation for a scientific health center with more than 3000 users
  • Head the digitalisation initiatives of the Center
  • Strategic development of center-wide digital processes
  • Establish and further develop a service portfolio to support all digitalisation processes as well as technology-based science
  • Develop digital standards and systems for the collection, documentation, and optimization of processes
  • Document and provision analysis tools for quality assurance and quality management of ICT services for process digitalisation
  • Management and operative responsibility for the area of Applications & Digitalisation
  • Professional and disciplinary management of the department and the allocated budget

Your Qualification

  • Masters or Ph.D. (or comparable degree) in Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, or Natural Sciences with a focus on IT
  • Several years of experience in a leadership and management position
  • Experience in leading a team with extensive change responsibilities
  • Comprehensive experience in process analysis and process optimization
  • Competence in methods and processes of IT operations (ITIL) and a very good overview of current technologies and developments
  • Strong sense of responsibility and high social and communication skills
  • Experience in leadership, motivation and development of employees
  • Awareness for cost and quality
  • Fluent spoken and written German, fluent English
