As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

The IT unit supports the renowned researchers of the Helmholtz Zentrum München in a vibrant international environment by providing all the components necessary for a modern, cutting-edge IT and office infrastructure. In cooperation with highly dynamic and innovative teams of researchers, we develop applications in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning.

The Institute of Computational Biology develops models and methods for data analysis in systems biology and systems medicine, integrating biomedical information on multiple scales ranging from single cell time series to cohort omics data. At the ICB, scientists frequently perform computationally demanding experiments and data analyses requiring over 100.000 CPU hours. For this purpose, we maintain a high-performance computing infrastructure with over 50 servers. The technologies used in the operation of our infrastructure include IT automation (Ansible), IT monitoring, containerization (Docker) and automated workload distribution via a queue system (SLURM).

We are looking for a motivated candidate with an IT background (e.g. education as Fachinformatiker or BA in informatics, bioinformatics or comparable field of studies) who will work on maintaining and updating the IT infrastructure of our Institute of Computational Biology (ICB).
